BOOK REVIEW – Michael Phillips – The Treasure of the Celtic Triangle

Because I got this book from NetGalley, I did not have an opportunity to read the first book in the series (nor did I know that it existed). It wasn’t until I was reading the comments following the book that I discovered the existence of “From Across the Ancient Waters.” Fortunately, Phillips writes in such a way that I didn’t even notice the book had a Prequel.

I’ve always been a big fan of Michael Phillips, and this book did not let me down. I love the way he includes his own favorite author as an influence on his characters, the references to George MacDonald’s work were wonderful. As always, Phillips brings real life historical figures into his work. I always enjoy this element of his work.

Phillips paints a beautiful picture of the Welsh country side and life in the late 1800’s. His characters illustrate the struggle of the caste system during that era and how it effected relationships. In this book you’ll find a sweet love story, family conflict, history, and a challenge to look at your faith.

I highly recommend this book to Christians and non-Christians alike!
