Original Children’s Curriculum
Posted On April 14, 2010
It’s been nearly a year since I started writing the Children’s Curriculum for Sycamore Tree Church‘s Children’s Church. All of the lessons are complete and I’ve begun working on the proofing and editing. I’m hoping to get that complete by the end of April and then get it loaded on LuLu.com.
Did you know I have a storefront at Lulu? The first book I put there is Devotion Ideas for Busy Families. And that storefront is where I hope to have the Children’s Curriculum very soon.
The Curriculum is based on the Lord’s Prayer. It takes each line of this prayer that Jesus taught and spends three weeks focusing on the meaning. Using scripture, songs, videos, crafts, games and illustrations, children will learn what it means to have God as our Father. They will understand what hallowed means and learn about God’s Kingdom. After 30 weeks, children should understand the entire prayer and have it memorized so they may use it as a guide for their prayers as they grow.
The remaining 22 weeks will be spent celebrating the special Sundays of the church, Thanksgiving, Advent, Palm Sunday, Easter and Pentecost as well as a special lesson for World Communion Sunday (or any Sunday the leader would like to help the children understand Communion). Finally, there are three lessons that will focus on the 23rd Psalm and eight that will teach the children the 10 Commandments.
